Our Animals

More animals coming soon! Two more baby goats coming in about a month. Hoping to start looking for equine (horses, ponies, etc.) in the Fall. There is also talk of rabbits, turkeys and calves next year!

These are our new Nigerian Dwarf Kids.  The black and white one is a little girl named Diamond and the tan and white is a little boy (whether so fixed) named Topaz.  Diamond will be my main milking goat and her twin brother is her companion.  Mostly, he is here for support and to keep her company.  They are so super cute! They are still getting used to their surroundings.  Both of them have had a little bit of a cold with some eye discharge.  I also found a bunch of lice on them and I have had to treat them so they don't become anemic.  I wasn't prepared to receive goats with such problems but we're working through it.  I want to make sure these problems are cleared up before our other two goats arrive at the end of May.  They are Boer/Kiko mixes and also twins.  Can't wait to have them at our farm!

These are our new chicks and ducklings. They're in a brooder in the basement right now but soon they will be outside in the new Bird Coop that my husband is building. We bought 6 Orpington straight run chicks (straight run means they could be boys or girls), 4 female Isa Brown chicks, 2 Barred Rock straight run chicks and 4 ducklings. The ducklings are quite a bit bigger than the chicks and make a huge mess with the water. The chicks chase the ducklings around to grab bits of food from their bills and climb up on the ducklings backs to sleep!

My name is Kinka and you can’t believe anything the crazy dog says.  The barn is my territory from the top of the rafters to the dirt in the stalls.  I’m a very special kitty, my Mom passed along some interesting genetics so I have six toes on all my feet and a tail shaped like a paperclip.  I have an older brother with the same traits and his name was Kinko so I’m named after him, you know, for the kinked tail and all.  I can’t get enough of my people, they play with me and cuddle me all the time.  My birthday is in the Summer and I’ll be one year old.

Hi, my name is Lollipop and I’m a real ham!  I don’t really qualify as a farm animal even though pig is part of my name.  My life is pretty simple, I love my daily treat and my manger full of hay.  Apples are my favorite but I also like carrots, lettuce and spinach.  My favorite thing to do is go outside on a beautiful day and munch grass for a couple hours.  My people have this cage they carry outside to put me in so that I’m safe.  Maybe, now that we live in the country I should get a roof, never know about those red-tailed hawks!

I’m Tigger.  I was a rescue from the ASPCA when I was 8 months old.  That was almost 10 years ago.  This family was my third placement.  I had severe anxiety and although it has lessened a lot in the last nine years, I still have anxiety issues.  I don’t like little kids getting in my face and the little girl who lives with me makes me very nervous.  She has a lot of energy!  Mostly I like to lay around on my pillow but I go out a couple times a day to manage the farm.  I keep the barn cat in line and make sure the neighbor dogs know exactly where my yard starts and their territory ends!  I also love to visit Nana and Papa’s house and hang out with their dogs.  Cody and I have been friends as long as I’ve been around.  He’s a 14 year old Brittany.  He can’t hear or see too well anymore but he still loves to sniff around the backyard.  They also have a younger dog that’s been around about a year and a half.  Her name is Evie and she has a ton of energy.  Mostly, she’s a pest, but I don’t mind playing with her occasionally.  She sure wears me out though!
